Over the weekend the CDRA in collaboration with the All Saints' Church and local residents have taken steps to establish a support network for those who are vulnerable and/or forced to self-isolate during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The Crawley Down Support Network (CDSN) will hopefully consist of a group of volunteers from our community who wish to help others through this difficult period. The CDSN is not a replacement for government services, healthcare services or any other authoritative body and everyone should continue to adhere to advice published by the government throughout the pandemic. If you must self-isolate, have no one to turn to for non-medical support, or are unable to order in the supplies you need - the CDSN will be here to assist.
We now have a barebone structure of the support network ready and need to fill this network with willing volunteers to bring it to life and help over the coming weeks/months. If you would like to get involved and help those in our community who may be unable to help themselves please visit www.cdra.info/cdsn and let us know - we look forward to hearing from you.
We would like to stress that this network will be a fall back for those in need - we urge you all to continue to check up on friends/neighbours over this period whilst adhering to the advice of Public Health England. For ease of reference we have changed our website so that the frontpage will always show the latest available advice/information.
Last year the CDRA saw a resurgence in community spirit and pride across the village - the community really pulled together to make a number of great events. Now we must to pull together for an entirely different and more sinister reason and I am sure that we will excel in this task as well.
All the best,
Andrew Metcalfe
